Is an electronic signature legally binding in Canada and Quebec?
Yes. Electronic signatures are legally valid across Canada under PIPEDA and the provincial electronic commerce acts, and in Quebec under the Loi concernant le cadre juridique des technologies de l’information and the Civil Code. A small set of documents still requires a handwritten signature — notably wills and certain family-law and land-registry documents. Every eZsign document includes an audit trail and signer authentication to support its legal standing.
Where is my data stored, and does eZsign meet Law 25 requirements?
Your documents are hosted on AWS Canada Central, in Montreal. They are not stored or processed outside Canada. This means the data-residency and transfer questions raised by Quebec’s Law 25 have a straightforward answer for your privacy officer: the data stays in the province. eZsign supports your compliance program; the obligations under Law 25 remain with your organization.
How does eZsign pricing work — is it per user?
No. Business plans include up to 10 users at one flat monthly price: Basic at CA$123, Pro at CA$168, Enterprise at CA$223. Adding a colleague within that range doesn’t change your invoice. Beyond 10 users, each additional user is added to the monthly price at a published rate. There are no per-envelope, per-signature, or per-document fees on any plan.
Is there a limit on how many documents I can send or sign?
No. Every plan includes unlimited documents, unlimited signatures, and unlimited reusable templates. This is the main structural difference from Docusign, Adobe Acrobat Sign, and SignNow, which cap sends on most plans or bill per envelope. The one feature reserved for the Enterprise plan is bulk sending — sending the same document to many recipients at once.
How is eZsign different from Docusign?
Four ways. Pricing: eZsign charges one price for up to 10 users; Docusign charges per seat. Sending limits: eZsign has none; Docusign caps automated sends on most plans. What support and training are included, and is it available in French?
Every business plan includes live onboarding with a named trainer who sets up your account, learns how your team works, and stays reachable afterward. Support is by phone and email, from a team based in Laval, Quebec, in French or English. None of this is an add-on or a premium tier — it’s included in the plan price.
Is eZsign secure? What certifications does it have?
eZsign is SOC 2 Type II certified and runs on AWS infrastructure in Canada. Signers can be authenticated by SMS, phone call, or security question before signing. Every document carries a tamper-evident seal and a complete audit trail showing who signed, when, and from where. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest.
What's included in the free trial, and do I need a credit card?
The trial runs 30 days with full access to the features of your chosen plan. No credit card is required to start, and nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe. Onboarding support is available during the trial.
